HOW DID WE DEVELOP THESE RESOURCES?

Good ideas are worthless unless we take immediate action! COMM UNITY Placements & Podcasts is an innovative set of resources, that has already made significant strides in teaching community members how to create and produce inclusive radio programs and podcasts. This initiative has equipped more 12 community radio teams and adult educators from four partner countries with the skills needed to amplify diverse voices and create lasting social impact. Now we bring this knowledge to you!

COMM UNITY Placements Guide
This comprehensive guide is designed for community radios and adult educators, providing a step-by-step framework to elevate diverse and marginalised voices through engaging radio shows and podcasts. It is a practical resource that ensures the seamless integration of community media into your teaching and broadcasting efforts.
COMM UNITY Podcast Series
A collection of 13 podcast episodes, created through collaborative virtual and blended learning opportunities. These podcasts showcase the voices of marginalized communities, highlighting their stories, challenges, and triumphs. This series serves as both an educational tool and a platform for underrepresented groups to be heard.

IMPACT ON TARGET GROUPS

  • Adult Learners: Our training has significantly boosted the civic, personal, interpersonal, and digital skills of adult learners, including volunteers from minority and rural communities, women, migrants, and local residents. These individuals now have the confidence and tools to make their voices heard in their communities.
  • Cause and Community Organizations: These groups have found a powerful channel to promote positive change and become COMM UNITY Champions. By leveraging our resources, they can galvanize others and create immediate social impact within their local communities.
  • Adult Educators: With access to practical, ready-to-implement training strategies, educators can now effectively teach community radio and podcasting, contributing to the inclusion of diverse voices in public discourse.
  • Community Radios: Facing external pressures and challenges, community radios now have a well-crafted training resource to bolster their resilience and demonstrate their essential role in public debate. Our initiative supports these radios in maintaining their broader purpose and enhancing community engagement.

We highly recommend you listen to all of the podcasts from across the three regions below, so here's a quick guide on how to translate a YouTube video into your preferred language:
• Open the YouTube Video: Open the YouTube video you want to translate in a web browser.
• Enable Closed Captions: Click on the 'Closed Captions' (CC) icon.
• Access Settings: Click on the settings cog (gear icon) next to the Closed Captions icon.
• Go to Subtitles: In the settings menu, select 'Subtitles'.
• Select Auto Translate: Choose the 'Auto Translate' option.
• Choose Your Language: Select your preferred language from the list. For example, if you want to translate to German, find and click on 'German'.
• Play the Video: Now, play the video. The subtitles should automatically be translated into your chosen language.
